The summer is past and many of our lawns took a beating with the dry and hot weather. We are sad when a hurricane hits anywhere, but thankful that we have been spared, so far, this year.
With the slump in the economy and many homeowners being absent, we are facing some problems with yard maintenance. With absentee owners, this has especially been a problem. Someone mentioned the other day that they spent at least an hour a day in their yard just to keep pace with the weeds. We can use all the assistance anyone can provide to help the Board monitor problem lawns and, perhaps, if the owner is having problems that we are unaware of, please let us know, so that we can work together as neighbors to maintain our great area.
Political signs have been a problem recently and, just to make some of you aware, we tried to amend the restrictions to allow for certain types of signs for certain occasions and we did not receive enough response for even a vote.
Also, some of our new owners are not aware that we have a 2 dog limit per household. If you have 2 dogs, PLEASE do not get another. Those of you with dogs, PLEASE keep them leashed and in your yard, if you are not walking them.
For any newcomers, Tuesday and Friday are trash days and the pick up times vary. Recycle gets picked up on Fridays, usually very early. Wednesday is yard trash day and this also varies. Please put your waste at the curb not earlier than the night before.

Another year is upon us. Hurricanes and chinch bugs are in the past for another season. The Christmas lights this year were great, including the lighted wreaths at the front entry, thanks to Marie. The Hostetlers should win some kind of an award for their over-the-top celebration of the season lights.
There are many “For Sale” signs in the area. Most look fine, but we are addressing others. Thanks to those who adhere to our rules. Most of our residents are full time and the neighborhood appearance is very important. Our homes are our biggest assets and our Board of Directors is dedicated to maintaining our property values.
As you decide to repaint, please remember to submit a request to repaint with the paint chip showing the color attached. If you do not have a form, please call Genie Franklin at 409-5570 and she will be happy to provide one. You also can download the form at the web site below, which also has our owners’ address book.

Hurricane season is here again. Those of us who were affected by the tornados are finding out that our insurance companies are now requiring hurricane shutters. We will be seeing them installed from time to time. There is still some repair work being done from the tornados earlier this year, but our neighborhood overall is looking very good. Marie Lane has been working on our entry and we are very proud of her work.
We now have a homeowners’ address book that can be accessed on our web site below and we would like to thank Crain Bline for making this possible.
Please remember that only American flags may be flown and game day flags on game days.

Slowly, but surely, evidence of the tornados is creeping into our past. There are less blue tarps and, even if it doesn’t seem so, all of the homes that were damaged are in a stage of repair. Homeowners are waiting for all kinds of things, from insurance haggling to delivery of trusses and windows. Those of us, who did not experience damage, please be patient with those of you who did. Our neighborhood has damaged homes that each have a unique set of circumstances that they are dealing with.
